The property glossary
Where to find the definition, other names, accepted units and comparison rules for each of the 81 properties, and how to read an entry.
What the glossary is
The glossary is a searchable list of every property the platform stores: 81 of them, in 14 functionality groups. It is public and needs no account, so anyone deciding whether to trust a dataset built here can read the definitions it was built with.
You can find it at /glossary. Its entries come from the vocabulary the platform itself uses, so it never describes a property the platform does not have.
How to read an entry
An entry answers four questions: what the property is, what other names papers give it, which units may be reported for it, and what must be true before two values can be compared.
- Definition: what is measured, stated precisely enough to place a borderline case.
- Also written: the spellings recognised on import and during extraction. Each is another name for the same thing, never a related but different quantity.
- Accepted source units: the unit spellings accepted for the property. A unit not on the list is flagged, not altered.
- Canonical unit: what standardisation converts to. Where there is no agreed definition, the entry says "Method-dependent — source unit and basis preserved" and the reported unit and basis are kept.
- Basis and method: the denominator, the procedure or the instrument setting without which values are not comparable.
What the glossary does not tell you
It does not say which properties your project collects; that is set in the study configuration. It does not say which need a person before approval. And it is not a conversion table: whether a particular conversion is allowed is decided when the value is converted, following the unit rules.

Units and standardisation
How units are standardised: the reported value is kept beside the converted one, and unsafe conversions are refused.
