Analysing and writing
Reading, searching and annotating a PDF
Open a paper beside its details, find words in it, highlight passages and keep notes.
Opening a paper
Choose "Read" beside a paper in the Library or on the PDFs page. The document opens on the left; its details, your highlights and any extracted value are on the right.
Opening the evidence for an extracted value takes you to the same reader, at the page the value came from, with the evidence outlined.
Searching
Type in the search box to find words in the document. "3 of 12" shows where you are and the arrows move between matches. A scanned PDF with no text layer cannot be searched, and the reader says so instead of reporting no matches.
Highlights and notes
Select text to highlight it in one of four colours, or to attach a note. "Add note to this page" writes a note without selecting text. Every highlight and note is listed under "Highlights and notes"; choose one to jump to its page.
- Notes are shared with everyone in the project and show who wrote them and when.
- Owners, editors and reviewers can add notes. Viewers can read them.
- You can change or delete your own notes. The project owner can remove any note.
- Notes are for your team. They never change extracted or verified data.
